VISION
The Department of zoology is a nurturing field for students’ holistic improvement and to
inculcate the highest values of biological science including taxonomy, evolution, environment,
developmental biology, and molecular science. . The holistic development of the student and
make them able to contribute effectively for their welfare and society in this dynamic era.
The department promotes the discovery and broad knowledge about the biology of animals,
evolution and their environments. By utilizing cutting-edge research and progressive pedagogical
practices, we aim to instill in our pupils the greatest possible moral standards, a profound respect
for the natural environment, and a comprehensive understanding of animal sciences.

assistant is needed to conduct various Project and Research activities.

• Good opportunities for zoology students of placement in lectureship, research, forest
department, competitive exams, animal care taker branch, Forensic Medicine, Pest control,Gene
technology ,Biotechnological fields , Microbiological fields, animal suppliers etc. They can start
small scale industries such as Dairy, Poultries , Sericulture ,Vermiculture, Apiculture, Fisheries,
Pearl culture, Aquaculture and Pisciculture.

FUTURE PLAN

• To start Certificate course in applied Zoology branches.
• To develop the Zoology lab as demanded by the curriculum and Syllabus.
OBJECTIVES
The primary objective of the department is to impart quality education in the subject of Zoology
as a basic science and its applied branches to the students from rural area with very minimum
fees.
The Department is having the following objectives:
 To provide quality education in a branch of Biological sciences i.e Zoology with different
specializations.
 To facilitate Higher education & research in zoology.
 To provide quality education offering skill based programs and motivate the students for self
employment in applied branches of Zoology.
 To inculcate the value based education and entrepreneurial skills among the students.
 To Inculcate the spirit of resource conservation and love for nature
 To conduct field studies and different projects of local and global interests.
 To provides opportunities for professional and personal development through curricular and
co- curricular activities.
 Provide consultancy and organize extension activities.

DEPARTMENT OF ZOOLOGY
Course Objectives
SEM- I Animal Diversity I a. To learn the basics of systematic and understand the hierarchy of
different categories. b. To learn the diagnostic characters of different phyla through brief studies
of examples. c. To obtain an overview of economically important invertebrate fauna.
SEM- II Cell Biology a) to study the ultra-structure of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells
SEM III Molecular biology ,Bioinstrumentation and Biotechniques: a) To understand the
principles and techniques involved in DNA technology and get an overview of modern

techniques like PCR, b) To understand working principles and uses of Bioinstruments: c) to
learn about biotechniques.
SEM III OEC (Endocrinology) a) To learn about synthesis ,mode of action and disorders
associated with hormones
SEM- IV Gene technology , immunology and computational biology a).To acquire the
knowledge on versatile tools and techniques employed genetic engineering and recombinant
DNA technology b) To enable the student to understand the principles and mechanisms of
immunology c) To learn the malfunctioning and disorders of the immune system d) To get a
broad understanding of microbes and their economic importance with special reference to
pathogenic forms d) Use and interpret results of the principle methods of statistical inference and
design.
SEM- V Animal diversity, Economic zoology and comparative anatomy:
1) To learn the basics of systematic and understand the hierarchy of different categories.
2) To learn the diagnostic characters of different phyla through brief studies of examples.
3) To obtain an overview of economically important fauna
4) To compare evolutionary significance different classes of vertebrates.
5) SEM- VI Developmental biology and evolution, Ecology and Wild life management
a) To learn the embryological processes and to learn about evolutionary significance of
fossils
b) To understand the interaction between biotic and biotic components and to protect and
manage the wild life Understand the existence of life!

6) The Department of Zoology was established in the year 2012
7) The faculty members from Department of Zoology are highly qualified, knowledgeable,
experienced, dedicated and skilled.
8) The department members attend, seminars and workshops to enhance their expert
knowledge, networking with others and renewing motivation and confidence.

9) Our didactics focuses on basic and applied fields of Zoology assisted with demos,
models, videos, wet laboratory having equipments such as Digital Weighing Balance, pH
Meter, Compound Microscopes, Water Bath, Centrifuge and Incubator etc.
10) The Department has a Darwin Virtual Laboratory for the utilization of e-resources and
demonstration of dissections using software’s like DigiFrog.
11) The department organizes co-curricular activities for students every year in collaboration
with various NGO’s, Research Institutes and Academic bodies to make learning beyond
the classroom and also arranges various Seminars, Workshops, Guest lectures, Field
visits and Outreach programs.
