ABOUT DEPARTMENT
The Department of Economics was established in the year 2012. Economics is offered as one of the
three optional subjects to B.A programme.
The main objective of the department is to acquaint the students about various aspects of the
functioning of economic activities like Micro and Macro Economy, Monetary economy,
International Economy, Indian Economy, Development Economy, Public Economy, Economic
Reforms and role of RBI. The Study of important issues like agricultural problems, rural problems,
poverty, unemployment, demographic dividend, sustainable development, environment protection
makes them responsible citizens.
The department emphasizes on empowering the Upper Krishna Project affected students of with
soft and life skills to acquire contemporary knowledge of the world.

“Imparting theoretical and applied knowledge of Economics, encouraging critical thinking and
conducting research on Socio-economic problem at local, Regional and National level for inclusive
development”

MISSION
To Prepare Students for undertaking Socio-Economic Research for Self Development and
Understand Global Economic Scenario and make them acquire Applied Knowledge of Economics
to enhance their Employability and Entrepreneurship Skills.

OBJECTIVES
1. To enable the students with basic knowledge of economic concepts, theories and principles and
its day to day applications.
2. Up gradation of knowledge in recent trends and developments in Economics.
3. To encourage the students in solving the various economic problems by enhancing their ability

and skill.
4. To develop the rational approach for economic behaviors and values among students including
critical thinking and communication.
5. To develop the potential among students for higher education, research, and career placement.

PEDAGOGY
The College is affiliated to Rani Channamma University and Bagalkot University jamakhandi and
the Commerce Department follows the university syllabus.
