INTRODUCTION
In 2012 Basaveshwar Vidyavardhaka Sangha of Bagalkote started
Basaveshwar Arts Science and Commerce College at Vidyagiri
Bagalkote.The same year college introduced Kannnada language as
basic and optional too.Language is a vital part of human
connection.Although all species have their ways of
communicating,humans are the only ones that have mastered cognitive
language communication. Language allows us to share our
ideas,thoughts and feelings with others. Kannada language is mother
toungue of Karnataka State people. It belongs to the Dravidian family of
languages.kannnada stands among 30 of the most widely spoken
languages of the world.Kannada is the only Indian language which got
maximum(8) GyanaPrrth Awards.
Acoording to UNESCO(2022) : “Research has shown that education
in one’s mother toungue is a crucial aspect of inclusive and quality
learning.”
Department is introducing the glory of Kannada literature through
the ages and its contribution to the world of knowledge to expose
students to the branches of Kannada literature like
poetry.prose,novel,drama,essay,grammer and epics.Department is
embiding human values through literature to develop self
reliant,cultured productive and enlightened citizens.

Department organizes workshops.seminars special lectures,completion
like speech,essay,quiz,field work interaction sessions with litterateur to
develop good communication skills for better employment
opportunities.

To promote and preserve the richness of Kannada language and
literature,fostering a deep understading and appreciation for the
culture of Karnataka.

To provide quality education in Kannada language and
literature,fostering critical thinkikg and research capabilities.
Objectives

To rquip students with strong communicative skills in kannada
enabling them to confidently use the language in various contexts.

To delve into the rich literary and cultural heritage of Karnataka
through the study of classic kannada texts and contemprory
works.

To actively engage in research on kannada language,literature.and
linguistics,contributing new knowledge the field.

To foster a vibrant kannada speaking community by organizing
workshops,cultural events and outreach programs.

To encourage students to analyze and interpret kannada
literature with a critical lens understanding its social and historical
significance.
PEDAGOGY
The college is affiliated to Rani Channamma University Belagavi
and Bagalkot University Jamakhandi and the kannada department
follows the university syllabus.
