Department of Mathematics
History
The Department of Mathematics of our college came in to existence in the year 2013.
Since 2013 the Department has been striving to impart the knowledge of Mathematics at UG
level to the aspirants of the entire region.
Shri.Kumar Kalasa, the first lecturer in the Mathematics department served for a short
period and left in June 2014, after that Miss. H.B.Mavinamarad and Miss. L.S.Nirani were joined
as lecturer in the Mathematics Department in 2014 and served for a short period.
Since June 2015 Prof. K.C.Meti serving as a H.O.D of Mathematics Department. In June
2015 introducing the degree classes for day by day increasing in the strengths one more lecturer
Prof.Vijayalakshmi Handagi has been appointed. In 2024 Basaveshwar Arts, Science and
Commerce College Vidyagiri Bagalkote was bifurcated from Basaveshwar Independent Arts,
Science and Commerce PU College Vidyagiri Bagalkote. And Department of Mathematics
started its work in the present building. From the year 2013 day by day increasing in the students
strength shows the quality of education in this institute.

To become a center of excellence in mathematics education, fostering a community of
scholars who are equipped to tackle complex mathematical problems and make meaningful
contributions to society.
Mission
To provide high-quality mathematics education that emphasizes critical thinking,
problem-solving, and analytical skills, while promoting a culture of innovation, creativity, and
intellectual curiosity.
Objectives
1. Mathematics is an integral part of almost all science subjects. Our main objective is to make
understand the subject thoroughly.
2. Mathematics is generally considered to be a difficult subject, our another objective is to
prepare students To provide students with a solid foundation in mathematical concepts,
theories, and techniques.
3. Today in every job sector there is as an entrance exam therefore our another objective is To
develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills in students.
4. To foster a culture of innovation, creativity, and intellectual curiosity among students and
faculty.
5. To provide opportunities for students to engage in research, internships, and community
service..
6. To provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes diversity, equity,
and inclusion.
7. To continuously assess and improve the mathematics curriculum to ensure relevance, rigor,
and effectiveness.
8. To promote mathematics awareness and appreciation among the general public through
outreach and community engagement activities.
